Avalanche Crosses Piste in Alpe d'Huez
No Skiers Caught in Slide
Shortly after 15:00 on Saturday afternoon, an avalanche occurred at the bottom of the Combe de Sarenne in Auris-en-Oisans, Alpe d'Huez.
There were many witnesses to the slide which was around 30 feet wide and extended right down to the stream at the bottom of the valley. Despite the fact that noone was seen to be caught in the avalanche, a rescue operation got underway immediately to make absolutely sure there were no victims.
After a lengthy search involving around 30 rescue professionals, it was thankfully confirmed that there were no casualties.
