International Comedy Film Festival in Alpe d'Huez

Last night crowds gathered outside Alpe D’Huez Palais de Sport for the highly regarded International Comedy Film Festival.

The festival got off to a flying start complete with the grand opening ceremony and the first film Bis directed by Dominique Farrugia that has now marked the beginning of the film premieres that will run until the 18th January. The premieres are entirely free so be sure to grab your seat at this festival; seats can be reserved and collected from the Palais de Sport where some of the screenings are currently taking place.

The festival is now well underway having had the films The Grump directed by Dome Karukosk and The Voices directed by Marjane Satrapi viewed yesterday and the grand opening ceremony which was well attended. This year it is hosted by the President Gad Elmaleh and the judging panel includes Ana Girardot, Sylvie Testud, Manu Payet and Max Boublil who will choose the winners of the festivals various awards.

There are still plenty more exciting films making its way to the screens this week; in the morning of Friday 16th Realite directed by Quentin Dupieux shall be aired (11:30) along with Les Nouveaux Heros (10:00) and A Love You directed by Paul Lefevre (viewings at 17:00 & 22:00) In the evening, Papa Ou Maman will also be played (20:00).

A highlight for the week is Un Incroyable Talent (An Incredible Talent) an English film that will have French subtitles. The film features James Corden and co-stars Julie Walters, it follows the life of Paul Potts (played by James Corden) journey in Britain’s Got Talent the television show, so be sure to grab your ticket as soon as possible to this exciting viewing which is played on Friday at 14.00 and Saturday at 10.00. In the following week after the premieres, there is the potential for more English Comedies to be played so keep an eye out for these in the upcoming weeks!

The festival continues on Saturday 17th with viewings of Arnaud Fait Son at 11:00 and Les Nouveaux Heros at 14:00. This is followed by the Closing Ceremony and Awards at 19:00 in the Great Hall of the Palais De Sport.

The week is finally concluded on Sunday with further award ceremonies at different times throughout the day (14.00, 18.00, 16.00) celebrating the great collection of films brought to Alpe D’Huez. There is certainly plenty to see and celebrate this week so don’t miss out on this opportunity!
