Families & Kids
Cots and high-chairs are available from reception free of charge, subject to availability.
You’ll need to book your own childcare, when staying here. There is a great choice of childcare options in Alpe d'Huez from full-time nanny services to the odd night of babysitting. In addition, during the winter season, many of the ski-schools operate creche services. Booking in advance is always recommended and strongly advised for the school holiday periods.

You’ll need to organise your own bike hire when staying here. Things to consider are the type of bike you want to rent such as road, mountain, hard trail and/or an electric bike; and whether you’ll need helmets and protective clothing with your rental. You’re best off choosing a shop that is close to your accommodation for ease of access, and making it quicker to return the bike and pay at the end. Some companies may also deliver so it’s worth looking at all the options.

Instructors & Lessons
When staying here, you’ll need to book your own ski or snowboard lessons. Tuition is strongly recommended for complete beginners and is always a good idea whatever your level to perfect your technique. Group lessons are a great way for children to learn with their peers whilst giving you some free time on the slopes. Groups are also a generally cheaper option for adults, however, with a private instructor you’ll have undivided attention and be able to progress at your own pace.

- "The accommodation is comfortable and spacious for the price. There was enough room for all 17 of us (half children) to eat together if we wanted. Definitely ski in/ski out and only a few minutes walk from ESF meeting point. Wifi is only in the reception building, 50m away. The swimming pool was a nice touch. It was also easy to collect from ski school and have simple lunches together in the chalet from time to time, rather than paying mountain prices." - Trip Advisor
- "Stayed for a week in 3-floor, 5-bedroom apartment (A-9). Wel maintained, clean, spacious, nice spacious balcony facing south-west. Located at the building that contains the reception desk. Very friendly, helpful and English speaking staff. Spacious livingroom with large diningtable and enough seats and sofa's. Beds are very good! Not possible to regulate the temperature in the apartment (only by opening windows and doors). Possibility to order bread, which is punctually delivered between between 7.30 and 8.00 AM at the front door of your apartment. Located at a distance of less than 100 mtrs of everything. Recommended!!!" - Trip Advisor
The main market town of the Oisans region Bourg d’Oisans, is a 20 minute (12km) drive away. Being the main town ‘Bourg’ offers a wide array of shops, bars and restaurants. It has a large supermarket with parking (ideal for stocking up). Petrol stations, banks, post office, pharmacies, medical centre, bus terminals, builder’s merchants, churches, riverside walks, cycle hire, swimming pool, tennis courts, Osteopaths (the list goes on!) can all be found in this quaint typically alpine mountain town.
The village has four good restaurants, Potee d'Oz is great for wonderful large salads, whilst La Ferme d'Oz offers excellent local dishes and you can ski directly onto the terrace! Alternatively ‘Pizzeria Ello’ provides a delicious and varied menu.

The 21 hairpin bends that lead from Bourg d’Oisans up to Alpe d’Huez is probably the most famous climb in the whole of the cycling world. The views from the top of the Pic Blanc (accessed from the DMC lift centre) offers truly breath taking views, on a clear day you can see Mont Blanc, Les Deux Alpes and even the mighty Mont Ventoux (the giant of Provence!!). Around 45 minutes towards Grenoble is the historic town of Vizille with its museum and Chateau. Top flight rugby is played at the new Stade des Alpes by Top14 club Grenoble, which is around an hour away. The historic and incredibly picturesque ‘Route Napoleon’ runs from the area all the way to the Mediterranean, and follows the route taken by Napoleon upon his return from Elba in 1815 and links Grenoble with Cannes (N85).

With only a handful of restaurants and bars Oz doesn’t offer much in the way of nightlife and with Alpe d’Huez, although not far in distance, around 40 minutes away, Oz really isn’t the destination for you party goers more those that prefer a quieter night.
