Alpe d'Huez Dump Alert: 13th November 2017
As widely predicted, it started snowing here in Alpe d’Huez at around 14:00 on Sunday afternoon. Light to begin with, the snow got heavier as the evening went on.
Around 4” (10cm) fell in the first few hours and, by Monday morning, around 8” (20cm) have fallen at resort level of 1850metres, with more at higher altitudes. Snow fell down to an altitude of around 900metres (below Huez village) so all of the slopes in the Grande Domain ski area received some snow ahead of the lift opening on Saturday 2nd December.
The snow was accompanied by some strong winds, with gusts of around 50mph being reported higher up, but these winds are due to drop as the day goes on.
