Public Transport in Alpe d'Huez
Alpe d'Huez has an in-resort bus service which runs until late at night and is free with your lift pass and there is a handy, but slow, bucket lift (with a piste beneath it) running through the resort from the Tourist Office to the main DMC lift at the top. Known locally as the 'lobster pot', it doesn't run in the evenings.
A Les Deux Alpes shuttle bus runs every Wednesday & Thursday from Alpe d'Huez to Les Deux Alpes. Return ticket is 11 € and you need to book it in advance from the ticket office at the VFD station or at the Palais des Sport. It leaves at around 8.30am and then returns from LDA at 4.30pm it takes approx an hour. Books up quickly!
Bus & Train Timetables for Alpe d'Huez
Alpe d'Huez is accessed fairly easily by public transport; from Grenoble Gare Routiere (bus & coach station) you can catch a public bus to resort. Bus line 3020 will take you from Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez (via Bourg d'Oisans) and you can also use this line to get to Les Deux Alpes if you wish. Take the 3020 from resort down to Bourg and then pick up Bus 3030 which will take you up to Les Deux Alpes.
There is also a daily bus from Grenoble to Bourg d'Oisans (Bus 3000), from where you can pick up either of the connecting buses to Alpe d'Huez or les Deux Alpes. See links below for timetables and connections.
