The Alpe d'Huez lift system links together the compenent parts of the 5th largest ski area in France where over 200km of piste awaits you! The lift system is renowned for being one of the best in the Alps with long lift queues rarely posing a problem. The 87 lifts that make up the network can be accessed from 7 different parts of the resort, meaning that you never have to face a long trek home at the end of a hard day up the mountain!
The lifts marked on the piste map using straight black lines are of four types; button tow/drag, chair, télécabine and téléphérique. They have the corresponding abbreviations:
- TK - téléski (drag)
- TS - télésiège (chair)
- TC - télécabine (gondola)
- TPH - téléphérique (cable car)
For télécabine think bubble car and for téléphérique think cable car. Anything prefixed/suffixed with “Express” means a 6 person modern fast chair lift.
The 87 lifts of the Alpe d'Huez ski domain consist of 6 cable cars, 10 gondolas (bubbles), 25 chair lifts, 41 drag lifts and 3 travelators (magic carpets), as well as the 'lobster pot'!
The lift system operates during the winter and summer seasons, giving access to a huge range of mountain activities.
