Smithy's Tavern Restaurant Review

Popular Bar Serving Good Food & Snacks

featured in Restaurant reviews Author Jan Ogorzalek, Ski Editor Updated

Smithy's tavern is a legendary seasonaires party bar, but I had heard reports of good food so I decided to take the plunge and see what the fuss was about.

At 8pm, the bar was quiet and they had a few tables set up for dinner service. The decor and menu have a traditional pub / steakhouse feel with the usual choice of nachos, fajitas and burgers. The fillet steak wasn't much more expensive, so I ordered medium-rare with peppercorn sauce and sat back in anticipation.

After a reassuringly long wait, I can happily report that the meat was cooked perfectly, the sauce had a beautiful bite to it and the side dishes were generous enough to make sure I had a good feed.

Looking up from the road I would say Smithy's tavern is not an obvious choice for dinner but I am very happy that I trusted the recommendations and ventured off the beaten track. I didn't stay for the late night shenanigans but I have it on good authority that it goes off!
