It has been mostly overcast this week in Alpe d'huez but the sun came out today and conditions were great. The forecast is for more clouds and some snow especially on Thursday and Saturday.
The weekend will also bring us the Ophelie David Skier Cross Event before the sun comes back on monday.
The morning's have been the time to hit the slopes lately in Alpe d'huez as the afternoons have been pretty cloudy and the light has gone pretty flat.

There has been some consistent sunshine this week in Alpe d'huez but the clouds moved in today and although the weekend is supposed to be sunny the snow is set to return on Tuesday night when 10cm is forecast to fall.

There is tons of snow in Alpe d'huez at the moment and the resort has some great snow depths. There's a little more snow on the way this weekend and the Rip Curl Alive and Kickin' this Sunday.

It's one of the daftest races of the season. Teams of skiers, snowboarders, telemarkers...infact any thing that slides take part, usually in fancy dress, in the race down La Meije.

Every year, when the lifts open, I rush excitedly to the top of the hill, strap into my board and set off for the first run of the new season. The cold, clear air in my nose and the sun on my cheeks I can't keep the smile off my face as the fresh snow creaks under my board. The whole day lies ahead from first lifts to last call. Or it would if I wasn't sweating, panting and massaging the cramp out of my calves at the end of the first run.

With the warm weather melting the snow the decision has been made to close the ski area in Alpe d'huez early this year. The resort will now shut on the 24th April.

Skiing and Snowboarding in Alpe d'huez have taken a bit of a back seat this week as the weather has been so good that sunbathing in the afternoon and swimming in the pool have become the popular pastimes.

The weather this week, in Alpe d'huez, has been very cloudy with slushy pistes. We have had some fresh snow up high but the lower runs have been heavy and increasingly bare. Gay Ski Week has been going off this week in Alpe d'huez with lots of parties across town.

High winds have been a problem this week, closing the higher lifts. Down low the pistes are starting to deteriorate quickly but hopefully some new snow will freshen things up.

Spring is definitely upon us and the sun is shining and affecting the slopes. We have hard pistes in the morning and soft and slushy snow in the afternoon.

With the holidays in full swing it has become a lot busier here in Alpe d'huez but heading to the surrounding villages is usually a good way to avoid the crowds.

The month long run of clear skies came to and end this week when the snow clouds moved back in. They didn't bring a huge snowfall but they topped up the pistes nicely.

Well we still haven't had any new snow but the sun is still shining and in places the pistes are running smoothly with a soft top layer of snow. Apres ski is now in full swing in Alpe d'huez and we've been enjoying a few beers with live music this week.
