18 year old Sussex born mogul skier Ben Cavet is becoming something of a legend in his chosen sport - mogul skiing. Having lived in Morzine for the past 7 years, Ben has honed his skills on the Alpine bumps and earlier this year won the French senior mogul championship.

A new law forcing motorists to carry breathalyser kits when driving in France has been delayed until March 2013 due to stock difficulties. Currently, all drivers in France face a caution if they are caught without the compulsory testing kits.

The much anticipated route for the 100th edition of The Tour de France has been announced, and as expected Alpe d'Huez is set to host a stage finish. Rumours had been rife that Alpe d'Huez would feature in the 2013 Tour but now it is official - the Tour is coming on the 18th of July 2013, not once - but twice!

Obligatory Breathalyser Kits for All Drivers in France

New law comes into force in November

If you drive in France this winter without two breathalyser kits in your vehicle you will be fined on the spot. The new rule came into force earlier this summer and there has been a grace period for foreign drivers but this runs out on the 1st of November. French police will be operating random checks on drivers via the Channel Tunnel and on ferries.

In 2011/12, France overtook the US and Austria to once again become the most popular destination for skiers worldwide.
With 55.3 million skier days recorded last winter, the French reclaimed the title for the first time in 3 years while the US and Austria experienced drops in daily visitor numbers of 15.8% and 2% respectively.

The France Montagnes association, a group of French mountain professional organistaions, have decided on an objective of world leader in the ski market during their second general assembly.
The association which was founded in 2010 is made up of three professional organisations (Ecole de Ski Francais, Domaine Skiables de France and the Association Nationale des Maires des Stations de Montagne), with a main function to promote the French mountain resorts to various markets via different means of communications, media relations and events.

After we April Fooled about summer skiing in Alpe d'Huez, it seems like we may of hatched a new idea, as Alpe d'Huez have decided to open for summer skiing. The resort will be open for a very limited period from the 30th of June through to the 1st of July and all skiers will need to sign-up beforehand.
